Donoughmore Athletic 0 Bohemians 1

Donoughmore suffered their first defeat in the league this season against Bohemians in Stuake on Saturday afternoon last. Donoughmore started well and Aidan O’Shea brought an excellent save from the Bohs keeper in the 15th minute when his left footed effort was touched over the bar. Damien Hennessy was unlucky ten minutes later when he saw his 25 yard screamer go straight at the keeper after some excellent build up work by Colm O’Sullivan and Kenneth Cullinane. In between these chances Donoughmore had a let off when a defensive slip up allowed a Bohs attacker to be one on one with Noel O’Connell in the Donoughmore goal but his effort was dragged wide. The score was 0-0 at half-time and at this stage the game was there for the taking by either team. Bohemians scored what turned out to be the winner in the 65th minute from a poorly defended corner, when a free header from 6 yards out was finished to the net. Donoughmore cannot be faulted for their effort or workrate but they did not trouble Bohs enough in the final third of the pitch in the second half. Conor Kelleher in his first full start caused Bohs a lot of problems throughout whilst Noel O’Connell, Rob O’Sullivan and Connie Buckley also did well.   Donoughmore can bounce back immediately next week when they entertain Rylane on Saturday in Stuake in what promises to be a closely contested local derby.
