(Donoughmore win 5-3 on pens AET)

Donoughmore advanced to the next round of the Munster Junior Cup with an extra-time win against Brooklodge in Glanmire on Sunday morning last. Donoughmore were missing a few first team regulars and for the first half the team failed to gain enough good possession and were unable to settle. The first half wasn’t a great spectacle with few chances created by either team and the standard of football was poor at times. Donoughmore upped their game at the start of the second half and were looking as if they would start to take control of the match. However, in what was a very clean match, a minor flare up and a stupid incident lead to Donoughmore been reduced to ten men on the hour. This knocked Donoughmore out of their stride but as the game progressed they looked liked the most likely team to score. Damien Hennessy, Aidan O’Shea and Conor Kelleher looked threatening in this period and also during the 20 minutes of extra time that failed to break the deadlock. The game was eventually decided by penalties where Donoughmore were successful with all of their attempts.
Tom Daly, Rob O’Sullivan and Damien Hennessy did well for Donoughmore.
Team: N. O'Connell, T. Looney, C. Buckley, T. Daly, R. O'Sullivan, P. Murphy,
D. McSweeney, D. Hennessy, C. O'Sullivan, D. O’Shea, A. O'Shea,
Subs: C. Kelleher for P. Murphy and D. Hogan for D. O’Shea.
