Buttevant 0 Donoughmore Athletic 0
Donoughmore kept their unbeaten start to their League 1A campaign with a scoreless draw away to Buttevant on Saturday. Donoughmore started the game strongly and Aidan O’Shea had a seemingly certain goal cleared off the line from a good deep Darren Barrett cross. Donoughmore had much of the play in the first half but despite one or two half chances didn’t trouble the Buttevant goal enough. The second half went much the same way as the first with Donoughmore dominating possession. Colm O’Sullivan was linking the play well during this half and Donoughmore created enough chances to have won the game. After some good work by Alan McSweeney , Pat Foley did well to beat his marker to the ball in the 70th minute but his well struck shot from just outside the box was too close to the keeper. Darren Barrett and Aidan O’Shea were combining well to cause the Buttevant defense problems and they both had  a couple of half chances. A positional switch saw Rob O’Sullivan moved up to midfield and he nearly scored the winner in the 80th minute when he beat one man in the box only to see his shot well saved. Donoughmore should have scored 5 minutes later when O’Shea put Dan McSweeney free only to see his shot go just wide of the far post. Donoughmore had another half chance when a corner was not properly cleared but there was nobody there to apply the finishing touch. This was a game that on another day Donoughmore would have won comfortably but it keeps the unbeaten run going and they are now unbeaten in their last six league matches. Rob O’Sullivan,

Connie Buckley, Colm O’Sullivan and Aidan O’Shea played well throughout. Donoughmore have a real test next Saturday when they welcome Kinsale to Stuake in the first round of the FAI Junior Cup in what promises to be an interesting encounter.
